All of our surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis if the patient is healthy. After surgery, patients are able to return home in the care of a competent adult or the staff at Aesthetica may arrange an overnight stay. If a patient has health problems, the procedure can be performed in the hospital, but at increased expense.

Dr. Caputy has privileges at each of the major local hospitals to perform all of these procedures. The office surgical unit is fully accredited, and general anesthesia is provided only by our board certified M.D. anesthesiologists. Below you can learn about each of our cosmetic surgery procedures. Facial Surgery:

Facelift

With time, aging, sun damage and stress, deep creases form between the nose and the mouth (nasolabial folds), the jaw line grows slack and jowly (marionette folds just beside the chin and jowls laterally), and fat deposits appear around the neck. A facelift can make you look younger and fresher in appearance, enhancing your self-confidence in the process.

A facelift, or rhytidectomy, cannot stop the aging process. However, it essentially "sets back the clock" by improving many of the visible signs of aging. Facelift surgery removes excess fat, tightens underlying supporting structures, and redrapes the skin of your face and neck.

Dr. Caputy has trained with the world's best plastic surgeons in both Europe and the U.S. He is the most highly trained aesthetic plastic surgeon in the world. Facelifts are very individualized procedures. Dr. Caputy will carefully evaluate your face and each of its components. Your goals will be discussed and surgical possibilities derived based on your desires.

The procedure itself generally takes about three to four hours, and is often combined with other procedures, such as facial liposuction, coronal lift, rhinoplasty (nasal surgery), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and facial implant surgery. Contact Dr. Caputy today to schedule a consultation for your facelift.

Forehead & Brow Lift

Forehead and brow lifts are usually the first consideration when rejuvenating the upper area of your face. This procedure can make you look years younger by reducing or eliminating horizontal expression lines and creases. A brow lift is performed through an incision placed either totally or largely within the hair (depending upon the patient's hairline). The incision is placed so that any spread in the scar will be hidden from view by your hair.

It is often desirable to have a very clear, wrinkle-free area between the eyes to give a more youthful and less angry appearance. The transverse wrinkle at the root of the nose is caused by repeated contraction of the procerus muscle throughout one's life. Usually, if the brow lift is properly performed, there is very little need to operate directly upon this muscle. If it is very active, it can, likewise be partially removed to reduce future wrinkling in this area.

Only a properly trained and qualified plastic surgeon and one who specializes in cosmetic/aesthetic surgery should operate in this region. By having Dr. Caputy perform your procedure, you will have one of the world's most experienced and well-trained surgeons conceiving and performing the procedures, thereby greatly reducing the risks.

Dr. Caputy has a great deal of experience in the use of endoscopic equipment, partially through his training at the Mayo Clinic and partially through fellowship training in fetal surgery where endoscopic techniques were often used.

Rhinoplasty - Nasal Surgery

Changing the shape or size of your nose may be something you have wanted to do for a long time. Rhinoplasty can make a nose larger or smaller, and can adjust the shape of the bridge, tip, or nostrils. The procedure can also correct damage from injuries and breathing abnormalities from deformed internal structures of the nose.

At Aesthetica, we try to make your nose as individual as you are. We have incorporated computer imaging technology in the practice, which we find particularly useful to promote frank discussion of what is desired from the surgery. Dr. Caputy will work with you to create the nose you have always wanted. Contact us today to discuss your options.

Eyelid Surgery - Blepharoplasty

Surgery of the eyelids, or blepharoplasty, removes herniated fat, excess muscle, and redundant skin from the upper and lower eyelid regions. These regions develop an undesirable appearance as we age, and many Asian patients have a genetic disposition to hanging upper eyelids. Overhanging of the eyelids tends to indicate to those who see us that we are tired, irate, sad or even ill.

The procedure may take one to three hours to complete depending upon the procedure needed to be performed and the number of eyelids involved. Incisions generally follow the natural eyelid creases and may extend a small distance into the crow's feet or laugh lines at the corner of the eye. Through these incisions, supporting layers are defined and tightened and tiny amounts of herniated fat are removed. Sagging skin and muscle may also be conservatively removed. The incisions are closed with very fine sutures. The eyes are usually bandaged for at least twelve hours following the surgery. This time may be minimized or eliminated with the use of a laser, which reduces the postoperative recovery period. Most people are ready to return to work after seven to ten days.

Dr. Caputy has published articles pertaining to this condition and its treatment in the leading plastic surgery journals. He is known as an expert in this field. Contact Aesthetica today to discuss your desire for eyelid surgery.

Neck Lift

If you have localized deposits of fat and sagging skin in the front part of your neck, you could benefit from a neck lift. This relatively simple procedure will make you look years younger by recreating a youthful contour between your neck and chin.

The procedure requires miniscule incisions under the chin and behind the ears. Fat is suctioned or directly excised, muscles are tightened, and a small amount of skin may be removed for maximum results. Patients return home with their chin and neck wrapped in dressings or an elastic sling to assist the healing process. Dr. Caputy utilizes mini-scar endoscopic surgery for minimal swelling and bruising, which will disappear completely over approximately 2 weeks. Once the healing process is complete, you'll face the world with a brand new look.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

The Coherent UltraPulse 5000C laser system, which is a CO2 laser, is optimal for laser peels (resurfacing) and various other surgical applications. It is the best laser available for the treatment of wrinkles, various pigmented and non-pigmented skin lesions, actinic (sun) damage and pigmentation abnormalities. This particular laser offers the advantages of gentle, even treatment with the power needed to ablate rather than burn tissue thereby minimizing the healing time. The precision and predictability of the laser essentially makes deep chemical peels and dermabrasion obsolete. Laser skin resurfacing is especially effective in removing:

  • Vascular Lesions
  • Pigmented Lesions
  • Scars
  • Port Wine Stains
  • Tattoos
  • Age Spots
  • Sun Spots
  • Birthmarks
  • Hyperpigmentation

The laser procedure is gentle to the skin and produces very little trauma to the remaining skin cells. They do not affect the melanocytes or pigment-producing cells of the skin, unlike the phenol and trichloroacetic acid used in chemical peels, which are directly toxic to these cells.

Dr. Caputy is fully trained and accredited in laser surgery. He trained for over 4 months with the most modern laser systems and has taken accredited courses in laser use and surgery, including a course at Harvard University. Dr. Caputy looks forward to revealing our inner beauty through laser skin resurfacing. Contact us today!
