All of our surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis if the patient is healthy. After surgery, patients are able to return home in the care of a competent adult, or they may stay at our overnight care facility. These can be arranged by the staff of Aesthetica if desired. In the case of very large reductions, or in a patient with health problems, the procedure can be performed in the hospital, but at increased expense.
Dr. Caputy has privileges at each of the major local hospitals to perform all of these procedures. Shaving, waxing, and other means of hair removal can be both painful and time-consuming. With advancements in technology, lasers can now remove unwanted hair faster and easier than ever. Our laser treatment can eliminate hair from the face, back, arms, legs, bikini line, and other areas. We can also remove the course stubble that causes hair follicle inflammation.
Lasers safely and effectively kill the hair follicle with little or no damage to the surrounding skin and other structures, such as oil and sweat glands. As with any laser treatment, there are small risks of scarring or infection. However, these are very rare in Dr. Caputy's practice. The treatments are usually very rapid with an upper lip taking about 5 minutes, bikini areas about 10 to 15 minutes. Most patients experience little discomfort with the procedure.
Dr. Caputy is at the forefront of the best and safest of these various methods. He is also known as the non-Caucasian expert in many different aspects of laser treatment. This is particularly important in the case of hair removal because the target molecule, melanin, is also found in varying degrees in the skin. Dr. Caputy is fully trained and Board Certified in laser surgery and has taught laser courses both Nationally and Internationally. The Coherent UltraPulse 5000C laser system, which is a CO2 laser, is optimal for laser peels (resurfacing) and various other surgical applications. It is the best laser available for the treatment of wrinkles, various pigmented and non-pigmented skin lesions, actinic (sun) damage and pigmentation abnormalities. This particular laser offers the advantages of gentle, even treatment with the power needed to ablate rather than burn tissue thereby minimizing the healing time. The laser procedure is gentle to the skin and produces very little trauma to the remaining skin cells. They do not affect the melanocytes or pigment-producing cells of the skin, unlike the phenol and trichloroacetic acid used in chemical peels, which are directly toxic to these cells.

Our center utilizes both the LED and Smoothbeam laser treatments to eradicate acne. LED stands for Light Emitting Diodes, which produce blue light to help destroy the P. acne bacteria. Treatment is fast and very effective, with no side effects, downtime, or pain. The Smooth Beam Laser is used for the treatment of acne lesions and scars, and has shown great success at our center. The Smoothbeam laser targets the acne's root cause, the sebaceous gland. The laser penetrates the glands to reduce the production of sebum, and eliminating acne. There is also no downtime with this laser, side effects are rare, and it is very affordable.
Photodynamic therapy uses a sensitizing chemical to target sun damaged cells, actinic keratoses, and early skin cancer cells. We have the ability to view the damaged cells with ultraviolet light prior to the treatment. We then use the LED intense light to kill these cells. Photodynamic therapy is much more specific and effective treatment for sun damaged skin than Effudex treatments or liquid nitrogen. Contact our center to discuss your skin care options.
